Sarah Ann Burns, age 20, of Moosic, passed away on Saturday evening. Born in Scranton on January 15, 1992, daughter of Michele Kovach Burns, with whom she resided, and Richard Burns, who preceded her in death on September 19, 2011, Sarah attended Riverside High School. She enjoyed reading, writing stories and fishing, and she was a Junior member of the PA3 Chapter of the Rolling Thunder. A lovable girl with a big heart, she regularly volunteered for the Gino J. Merli Veterans’ Center in Scranton. She will forever be missed by her family and friends.
Also surviving are her grandfathers (MoFa), Robert Kovach and wife Fran of Dunmore, and (FaFa) Richard Burns and wife Colleen of Madison Twp.
Grandmothers, (MoMo) Shirley Fitch Kovach on November 19, 1983, and (FaMo) Ann Marie Buchholz Burns on August 24, 2012, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services to be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora, Pastor of the Peckville United Methodist Church, are scheduled for Friday at 7:00PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 5:00PM until services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sarah’s name to the Gino J. Merli Veterans’ Center, 401 Penn Avenue, Scranton, 18503.
