June M. Paroby, R.N., age 74, a lifelong resident of Taylor, passed away Monday afternoon while at Hospice Community Care in Dunmore. She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen C. Paroby. The couple would have celebrated a 53rd wedding anniversary on November 28th. Born in Taylor on February 6, 1938, daughter of the late William and Margaret Zahorsky Rosser, June was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1955. In 1958, she graduated from the Scranton State School of Nursing. A proud registered nurse who worked as an Operating Room Nurse for Scranton’s Community Medical Center for over 30 years. She was still an active member of the AORN (American Association for Operating Room Nurses). Of Roman Catholic faith and a member of Divine Mercy Parish, she was a former member of both Immaculate Conception and St. John the Baptist Churches in Taylor. She was an endearing animal lover and her favorite pastime was shopping. Affectionately referred to as “Grandma Keisha” by her grandchildren, she was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandma who will certainly be missed.
She is survived by three children, Stephen W. Paroby and wife Christine of Old Forge, Margo A. Rachko and husband Stephen of Taylor and Lisa M. Kegel and husband Dr. Jeffrey of Guilford, CT.; a sister, Karen Pecuch and husband Dr. Nicholas of Old Forge; eight grandchildren, Stephen W. Rachko, Samantha L. Rachko, Jacqueline S. Kegel, David S, Kegel, Michael S. Kegel, Stephen S. Kegel, Erica S. Kegel and Jacob S. Paroby; and several nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli and to the staffs of both Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and Hospice Community Care for the exceptional care they gave to June throughout the years.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Friday at 9:45AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial in Divine Mercy, 312 Davis Street in Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas of Myra Parish Cemetery in Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in June’s name to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, 18411.
