Obituaries

Harriet Nancarrow, age 88, of Morganton, North Carolina and formerly of Old Forge, passed away Sunday at the Grace Hospital in Morgantown, N.C. She was the widow of John Nancarrow, who passed away on December 28, 1996. Born in Taylor on November 12, 1923, daughter of the late Frank and the Mary “Mame” Mowery Shannon, Harriet was educated in Old Forge schools, resided in Manville, New Jersey for over 30 years, andprior to her retirement, worked as a winder for the former Sauquoit Silk Mill of Scranton. A longtime member of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Old Forge, she was also a member of the church’s women’s society. In Morganton, she attended the Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her niece, Joyce Sutton and husband Richard of Morganton; and her nephew, Francis Shannon and wife Lorrie of Nescopeck.
Her brother, Francis W. Shannon, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services to be conducted on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. by the Rev. Donald Parry, Pastor of the Stewart Memorial Church in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will follow in the Milwaukee Cemetery.
