Agnes Elizabeth Armbrister, age 65, of Scranton, and formerly of Miami, Florida, passed away Thursday evening at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scranton. Born in Nassau, Bahamas on August 10, 1946, daughter of the late Henry and Blineva Sweeten Armbrister, among many jobs, Agnes was a private duty nurse, a housekeeper for the Raddison Lackawanna Station Hotel and a newspaper carrier for over twelve years. Saved by the Lord over 40 years ago, she was a devoted member of Salvation Apostolic Temple’s congregation both locally and in Binghamton where she sang in the choir and served on the usher board and with the missionary department. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be forever missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by her five children, Mary Armbrister of Miami, Florida, Richard Redden of Scranton, Elizabeth Harris and husband Kenneth of Scranton, Sylvia Armbrister of Binghamton, New York, and Angenika Armbrister of Scranton; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Vernetta Armbrister.
Her family would like to acknowledge the staff of Linwood Nursing Center for the exceptional care they had given to Agnes during her stay.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday to begin at 11:00AM in the Salvation Apostolic Temple, 223 North Main Avenue in West Scranton, to be concelebrated by Rev. Ray Johnson, Pastor, and Bishop Carl Lewis. Interment will follow Forest Hill Cemetery of Dunmore.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 10-11:00AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Agnes’ name to her church, care of the aforementioned address.
