Carl Franklin Remaley, age 79, of Moosic, passed away Wednesday morning under the care of Community Medical’s VNA Hospice. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jean F. Larnard Remaley. Born in Bath, on June 13, 1932, son of the late Colonel and Jenny Berger Remaley, Carl
worked for the Duryea Lumber Company for fifteen years prior to his retirement. An Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of both the VFW of Duryea, Post 1227, and the American Legion of Taylor, Post 306. An outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, his favorite hobby was woodworking.
He is survived by his son, Bruce Remaley and wife Janet, with whom he resided; a son-in-law, Kevin Smith of Moosic; siblings, Alvin Remaley and wife Ampero, Violet Blasko, and Harlan Remaley, all of the Lehigh Valley; five grandchildren, Shawn and Carl Remaley, Jessica Whetstone and husband Ryan, and Matthew and Christopher Smith; two great grandchildren, Carter and Chase Wetstone; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton for all the care and kindness they showed Carl during his stay.
Also preceding in death was a daughter, Pamela Smith; and four sisters.
Funeral services to be conducted by the Rev. James A. Wert are scheduled for Saturday at 9:30AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge.
Interment with full military burial rites by the Dickson City Veterans’ Honor Guard will follow in the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
