Jack Evan Morris, of the Tripps Park section of Scranton and formerly of Watsontown, tragically passed away on Saturday October 26. He took his last breath doing what he loved doing the most – riding his motorcycle. He was 41 years young.
On April 9, 1983, Jack was born in Muncy to his adoring parents, Thomas and Susan (Thomas) Morris. He studied small business development at Bucknell University after Warrior Run High School. Through his mentor at Bucknell, Jack developed a sense of entrepreneurship that led to him creating several self-made business ventures. Along with his brother Mark, he owned and operated Morris Timber Services, and perhaps his most rewarding job came owning the Drunken Monkey Cycle Shop in Old Forge. His passion for motorcycles was only overshadowed by his genuine kindness and selflessness to truly use his talents to help anyone in need. Jack was generous to a fault, and the amount of stories of him helping others in countless ways were infinite.
Jack’s memory will forever live on through so many memories he shared with others. He loved the outdoors and from skiing and snowboarding to boating and visiting the beach, it was impossible to keep Jack contained within a house. He was an excellent cook, was John Wayne’s #1 fan and was an absolute joy just to be around. His larger-than-life personality only made him all the more lovable.
Along with Sue and Tom, Jack is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 23 years, Samantha (Walburn) Morris; his pride and joy were his sons, Evan Morris and Austin Morris, both of Scranton; his loving brother, Mark Morris and wife Elizabeth of Scranton; his sister-in-law, Christine Bannon of Maryland; five nieces and nephews, Shawnna, Alyssa, Alison, Dylan and Dante Morris; and great nieces and great nephew, Bentley, Ally and Oliver Morris; aunt and uncles, cousins and countless friends and Brothers of his Heart.
He was preceded in death by his big brother, David Morris.
A celebration of Jack’s life is scheduled for Saturday, November 9th, at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with visitation between 11- 1 :00 PM and a blessing service at 1:00 PM by Rev. Elliott Cooke, Pastor of Jackson Street Baptist Church in West Scranton. Services will be followed by Jack’s final ride with all loved ones welcome to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Camp Freedom, Carbondale PA or Bikers for Justice.
In a final act of selflessness and generosity, Jack was a donor through the Gift of Life program, ensuring others will benefit from his passing. Please visit the funeral home’s website for directions or to leave a condolence.
Ride on, Jack.
