Melissa Harris Brown

Melissa (Harris) Brown of Willow Grove passed away on Wednesday evening at ACCELerate Skilled Nursing Center in Hatboro, following an illness. She was 55 years young. She is survived by her adoring husband of 23 years, James (Jim) Brown, a Duryea native.

Born in Bloomsburg on October 10, 1968, Melissa was the daughter of Doris Moore Harris of Bloomsburg and the late James Harris. A graduate of Bloomsburg University, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications. She worked as an administrator for the Philadelphia Geriatrics Center before becoming the director of development services at Barnes Foundation.

Undoubtedly selfless, Melissa was a community activist and volunteer for countless charities and organizations. Faithful and devoted to both her family and her church, she attend the Hidlay Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg.

She is survived by her son, Michael Brown of Willow Grove.
