Mary Ann Smith Pitta, 62, of Scranton, died Tuesday morning at home. She was preceded by her husband of 25 years, Thaddeus Pitta, who died Dec. 8, 2005.
Born May 24, 1961, in Scranton, daughter of the late Robert and Marie Mendicino Smith, Mary Ann was a graduate of Central High School. Of the Catholic faith, Mary Ann was a former member of St. Lucy’s Church, Scranton.
A loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Mary Ann’s favorite letters in the alphabet were B-I-N-G-O. She enjoyed her trips to the Mohegan Sun. Taken too soon, Mary Ann will forever be fondly remembered by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her daughters, Romayne Pitta and companion, Todd Fein, Homosassa, Fla.; Christine Conover and husband, John, Duryea; Sara Trapper and Jennifer Bieniecki, both of Scranton; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Smith and wife, Sharon, Scranton; and two nieces.
A blessing service is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may call Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
