Sharon (Lazevnick) Guzzy, of Pittston and a Duryea native, passed away Tuesday at Allied Hospice in Wilkes Barre, after a lengthy illness. She was 54 years old.
Born in Scranton on November 28, 1969, Sharon was the daughter of the late Edward J., Sr. and Rose (Prusch) Lazevnick. After graduating from Pittston Area High School, Class of 1986, she then began raising her three daughters whom she adored.
She loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping, and always enjoyed a good road trip, listening to country music and, of course, eating ice cream.
Sharon will long be remembered for her loving nature, big heart and selflessness, serving as a lifelong caregiver to anyone in need. She was a loving mother, sister and grandma who will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her loving family including her daughters, Courtney Guzzy and companion Michael Capitano of Denver, Co., Dana Turner and husband Philip McGreevy of Virginia Beach, Va., and Abigail Turner of Pittston; her beloved granddaughter, Catherine Capitano; her brother, Michael Lazevnick and wife Kim of West Wyoming; her step-sister, Wendy Schuback and husband Matt of Old Forge. Her brother, Edward J. Lazevnick, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to collectively acknowledge and thank all of Sharon’s amazing caregivers throughout her years of illness.
A celebration of Sharon’s Life is scheduled for Saturday at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, where family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 – 12:00 PM before a noon blessing service by Rev. Al Cremard.
