Matthew John Detrick

Matthew John Detrick, 37, of Old Forge and formerly of Scranton, passed away Friday at home surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous fight against cancer. He is survived by the love of his life, his caregiver and best mother to his children, Ashley Ann Grushinski.

Being a father, above all else, was most important to Matt. He enjoyed making others laugh as his sense of humor would brighten anyone’s day. A skillful artist who enjoyed drawing, his true passion was for music, either simply listening or recording his own written music. Loved by many, he will forever be missed.

He survived by his three adored children, Matthew, Jr. (4), Logan (3) and Avalynn Rose (7); his mother, Lorie; three brothers, Jeremy, Dylan and Dustin; two sisters, Holly and Karly; nieces and nephews; and an amazingly loyal and caring friend, Eddie.
