Jean Martino, 94, of West Scranton, died early Saturday morning at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. Her beloved husband of 61 years, Joseph “Marty” Martino, preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2012.
Born in Scranton on April 7, 1928, daughter of the late Joseph and Ann McTiernan Flanagan, Jean was a graduate of West Scranton High School.
Of devoted Roman Catholic faith, she was a pillar of the St. Patrick Church Parish where she volunteered in many organizations in all capacities. Later in life, she and Marty spent their winters in Daytona Beach, Florida, and she also enjoyed family vacations and weekend trips away.
Above all else came her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend who will forever be loved.
She is survived by her loving family: daughters, Palma (Pam) Musheno and husband, Joseph Sr., Scranton; Barbara Sweeny and husband, Howard Sr., Dunmore; and honorary daughter, Sharon Motsay; four grandchildren, Joe Musheno Jr.; Karli Miller and husband, Ryan; Amy Sweeny; Howard Sweeny Jr. and wife, Amanda; and three great-grandchildren, Sammy, Ben and Nick Miller.
Jean’s family will be forever grateful to the staff of Mountain View Care Center for the care and compassion shown to both Jean and her family throughout her stay.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, West Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Fox, pastor. Burial will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to the St. Patrick’s Food Pantry, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18504.
