Eugene J. Smith

Eugene J. “Fuzzy” Smith, 63, of Scranton, died Tuesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center.

Born April 24, 1959 in Scranton, the only son of the late Eugene and Helen Godlewski Smith, he graduated from West Scranton High School. Prior to his illness, Eugene was emplyed as a manager with D.G. Nicholas Auto Parts Store. A faithful parishoner of St. Ann’s Basilica, he served as an altar boy and continued on as an usher for many years.

Fuzzy was one of a kind, his life consisted of work, church, and NASCAR, and not necessarily in that order. Fuzzy impacted many lives and will not soon be forgotten.

Surviving are his son, Joshua Smith, and wife, Samantha, Wyoming; his daughters, Alexandra McKinsey, and husband, Ray, Mountaintop, and Chelsea Wesolowski, and husband, Chris, Pittston; and eight grandchildren.

A Celebration of Eugene’s life will be held on Friday with a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 4 PM in St. Ann’s Basilica Parish, 1250 St. Ann Street, Scranton.
