Erma Elizabeth Kersten, 70, entered into rest on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born February 3, 1948, in Washington D.C., daughter of the late Henry Lyle and Mary (Maletti) Johnson. She grew up and attended school in Suitland, Maryland.
In 2009 Erma retired from a 30+ year career where she worked as a Secretary at The Pentagon, Naval Oceanographic Office, and Bolling Air Force Base. She concluded her career as a Legal Secretary for Law Firms in Washington D.C..
She was a devout Christian. Her faith is the cornerstone of everything she wanted to do, and see.
First and foremost, Erma loved spending quality time with family and friends. Seeing others enjoying in the moment, laughing, reminiscing and spreading love was when she was in her happiest place. She could often be found with her nose in a book, playing gospel music on the piano, or learning something new about History.
Erma is survived by her two children, Marcella, and Alexander Lester.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 12th, at 4:00PM at the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, 125 N Main Ave, Scranton, PA 18504. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 2 until 4 p.m.
