John “Moose” Harrison, age 38, of Scranton, passed away Tuesday at home. Wed to Regan Bisbing Harrison on Valentine’s Day 2004, the couple was married for 14 years. He is also survived by his three adoring children, Riley, Brody, and Quinn Harrison.
Born on Christmas Day in 1979, he was the son of the late John (Jackie) Harrison. He was raised in Moosic by his grandmother, Beverly Santarsiero, and his Aunt, Deborah Harrison. A proud 1998 graduate of Riverside Jr./Sr. High School, he competed for the PIAA Class AA Football State Championship as a senior. He also attended Lackawanna College. He most recently worked as a sand blaster for Tobyhanna Army Depot.
A passionate football fan, he not only rooted for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Denver Broncos, but he also had a love for coaching the Riverside junior football team. He cared about his players and cherished his time spent coaching his beloved Vikings. He was also a longtime member of the United Baptist Church in West Scranton.
He is also survived by his aunts, Marissa Harrison, Phyllis Oselinsky, Marion Federowicz, and Rose Geueke; his uncle, Ken Klimek; his grandmother, Phyllis Harrison; his mother-in-law, Beth Bisbing; his cousin, Lee Ann Rossi; those whom he considered brothers, Steve Thomas, Kris Karnis, John Williams, Mark Brennan, Jesse and Jarrod Cooper; and countless other aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Preceding him in death was his grandfather, John W. Harrison. A loving husband, father, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Moose is now at peace and will never be forgotten.
Funeral services to be celebrated by Rev. Earl Cassel are scheduled for Saturday at noon at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Burial will follow at Old Forge Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday between 10-12:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the Brody, Riley and Quinn Harrison Education Fund c/o any branch of Peoples Security Bank.
