Mary Ann “Chuch” Connolly, age 82 and formerly of the Minooka section of Scranton, passed away Monday at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, on September 2, 1988.
Born in Scranton on September 19, 1935, Mary Ann was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School. Prior to her retirement, she worked various jobs in the local garment industry and she was a longtime faithful member of the Moosic Assembly of God Church. Kind, caring and selfless, she raised her sister and brother upon the untimely passing of her parents and also served as caregiver to her husband. She will forever be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her adoring niece and caregiver of 19 years, Jennifer Lee of Scranton; and Mary Ann ‘s siblings, Ann Marie Lee and husband Jack and Robert Ellard and wife Marge, all of Scranton; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Ellard Sr, and two nephews Edward Ellard Jr and Robert Ellard Jr.
Her family would like to thank the entire staff of Mountain View Center’s for the care and compassion given to Mary Ann throughout her stay.
Funeral services by Rev. David O’Brien, Pastor of the Moosic Assembly of God Church, are scheduled for Saturday at 10:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Twp. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
