James (Jimmy) Weitz, age 52 and a lifelong resident of Moosic, passed away Sunday at home.
Born on September 23, 1965 and loving son of Beatrice Decker Weitz of Moosic and the late Frederick Weitz, Jimmy was educated at Riverside Schools. He was a longtime fisherman and also proudly served in the Army National Guard. A member of the Moosic United Methodist Church in his youth, he had a big heart, always willing to help others, especially caring for his beloved mother. Passing away unexpectedly, he will forever be missed by his loved ones.
He is survived by his son, James Weitz of Old Forge; his siblings, Frederick Weitz and wife Lisa of Pittston, Debbie Williams and husband John of Carbondale, Bruce Weitz and wife Lisa of Old Forge, George Weitz and wife Melissa of Moosic and Stephen Weitz and Heather Green of Wilkes Barre; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
His brother, Alan Weitz, Sr., also preceded him in death on May 23, 2014.
Memorial services to be conducted by Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora are scheduled for Friday at 8:00PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 6:00PM until services.
