William Reap Jr., 50, of Taylor, died Sunday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie McHugh Reap. Wed on July 24, 1999, the couple was married for 16 years.
Born in Scranton on Dec. 16, 1965, son of the late William Reap, Sr., and Clare Murphy Reap of Taylor, William was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Before becoming ill, he worked for Harper Collins Publishers.
A sports fanatic, he rooted for the N.Y. Yankees, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Miami Dolphins, Heat and Hurricanes. He also loved watching wrestling and MMA with his adoring son and best friend.
He was a kind-hearted man who selflessly cared for all of those around him, especially his family. An inspiration to those battling illness, he will forever be missed by those who loved him.
He is also survived by his two children, William Reap III and Victoria Reap, both of Taylor; sisters, Diane Bridges and companion, Ronald Sholcosky, Pittston Twp.; and Suzanne Sansky and husband, Stephen, Olyphant; his aunt, Shirley (Sissy) Reap, Scranton; and nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
Blessing services will be Friday at 7 p.m. in the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
