Helen (Orloski) Yardchik, age 85, of Pittston, died peacefully Sunday, November 9, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness.
Born on June 25, 1929, in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Antoinette (Olbrys) Orloski. Helen was a graduate of Pittston High School and Lackawanna Junior College. She had been employed as a payroll clerk at Pittston Apparel. She also worked at Consolidated Cigar Co. and Wesley Village, before retiring in 2005. She was a lifelong member of Holy Church in Duryea.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Felix, Stanley, Joseph, Frank, Jr., Loretta, Celia, Theresa and Stella.
Surving is a daughter, Janice Hughes and husband James, with whom she lived; a granddaughter, Tiffany Biagioli and husband Joseph, and a great-grandson, Dominic, all of Quakerstown; a son, John Charles Yardchik and wife Cheryl; and a granddaughter, Amanda.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 9:15AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street in Duryea, to be celebrated by Rev. Andrew R. Sinnott, Pastor. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
