U.S. Veteran

Stephen Wilbur, 72, a lifelong Moosic resident, died Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was preceded in death on September 1, 1998 by his wife, Jean Orzalek Wilbur.
Born on September 10, 1946, and son of the late Russell and Janet Mann Wilbur, Stephen was a graduate of the former Moosic High School. He was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1971 after serving five years during the Vietnam War. For nearly 25 years prior to his retirement, he worked as an electrician for Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Stephen certainly enjoyed a good time. He lived his life to the fullest, never needing much motivation to throw a party. Passionate about football, he coached the Moosic Raiders for many years and was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. A proud U.S. Veteran, he was also a member of both the V.F.W. and the American Legion. A loving father, grandpa, brother, relative and friend, he will forever be missed.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Susan Cooper and husband James of Moosic, step-children, John Walsh and wife Kelli of MO, Sharon Kline and husband Joe of AZ, Linda Walsh and husband Michael Aloe of Carbondale and Debbie Yost and husband Larry of AR; brothers, Robert Wilbur and wife Jacqueline of Moosic, Jack Wilbur of Old Forge, Russell Wilbur of Moosic and William Wilbur of Pittston; his granddaughter, Bailey Cooper of Moosic; five step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
His longtime companion, Barbara Geiser, preceded him in death on April 23rd.
Funeral services by Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora are scheduled for Thursday at 11:00AM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
