Mary Ann (Ehnot) McHale, age 67, of Duryea, passed away Friday morning at home surrounded by her adoring family after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas McHale. The couple celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on September 24th.
Born on January 11, 1954, and raised in Dunmore, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Joseph “Pat” and Joan (Battista) Ehnot. A graduate of the former Dunmore Central Catholic High School, she had worked for 18 years for Erlich Pest Control Co. before last working as the office administrator for the Duryea Sewer Authority.
Although she will be remembered in many ways, her most vivid memory will long remain her love for her family. She was a loyal wife, a proud Mom, a loving grandma and an adoring sister. She was always there to help others in need and will forever be missed.
She is also survived by her loving family: sons, Michael McHale and wife Judy Levine of Duryea, Brian McHale and wife Jaime of Toms Rivery, N.J., and Kevin McHale and wife Victoria Borel of Ransom; her siblings, Deborah Monteforte and husband Lee of Jenkins Twp., Thomas Ehnot and wife Jeannie and John Ehnot and wife Maribeth, all of Dunmore; an aunt, Marie Novak; sisters-in-law, Donna Michalec and husband Al, MaryAnn Selley and Katherine Ehnot; and 13 nieces and nephews and 18 great nieces and great nephews.
A brother, Joseph Ehnot, and brother-in-law, Ben Selley, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to thank all of those who collectively helped with Mary Ann’s care throughout the years, especially Dr. Bruce Saidman and his staff, Visiting Angels, Sacred Heart Hospice and the Commonwealth Health’s outpatient team.
Funeral services from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., Old Forge, with burial at Newton Cemetery to follow will be private.
