Louis G. Kohut, 77, of Scranton, died Saturday in Moses Taylor Hospital. His wife is the former Rhonda Boston Rella.
Born July 11, 1943 in Scranton, son of the late Michael and Anna Spencer Kohut, he owned his own pool service and retired from the Scranton School District. Louis was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Scranton.
Very active in politics all of his life, Louis served as Judge of Elections at Weston Park for many years. Always looking to see the world, Louis was an avid traveler. Although he fought his demons, he was a proud friend of Bill W. and was 37 years sober.
Also Surviving are: two sons, Louis Kohut and Steve Burgerhoff; a step son, Jesse Rella; sisters, Charlotte Cadwell, Marie Karlavige, and Dorothy Quinnan; brother, Stephen Kohut; 4 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews
Brothers, Bernard, Michael, John, and Charles Kohut, and a sister, Florence “Cookie” Hogan, and a stepdaughter, Jennifer Rella, preceded him in death.
Services will be private and are entrusted to the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., Scranton.
