June Mayak, 75, of the Rocky Glen section of Moosic, died Thursday evening at the Inpatient Unit of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Her husband of 26 years, John, died Nov. 5, 1993.
Born Feb. 3, 1943, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late John A. Sr. and Lillian Radle Kane, she was a graduate of Moosic High School. June was a faithful member of the Moosic Alliance Community Church and was employed all of her life as the best mother and grandmother in the world.
June had a heart of gold, and was the one person you could always depend on. Her love for family was second only to her love for Elvis. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her six loving children, Melissa Francis and companion, William Gastinger, Duryea; Laurie Quick and husband, Dale, Moosic; John Mayak Jr., Moosic; Pattie Weitz, Moosic; Cathy Piechota and husband, John, Dupont; and Ronald Mayak, Moosic; grandchildren, Arlene, Jennifer and husband Will; Amanda and husband, Clarence; Stephanie, Nikki, Christine, Dominique and husband, Matthew; Danielle and husband, Nick; Amber and fiancé, Steve; Paul, Heaven, Tyler, Samantha, Ryan, Jessica, Marc, Kaile and Michael; great-grandchildren, Evan, Carissa, Caitlin, Emily, Shelby, Dakota, Wyatt, Jaiden, Keyarra, Rory, Bella, Lilly and Shiloh; devoted companion of 23 years, James Clark, Moosic; three brothers, Joseph Sr. and Ronald Kane, of Moosic; and Edward Kane, of Pittston; many nieces and nephews and pets.
Two brothers, John and Robert Kane; and a great-grandson, Matthew Krause Jr., also preceded her in death.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the office of Doctor Hyzinski, Scranton, and Lori, Judy and Sally from the Inpatient Unit of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Funeral services by the Rev, Eric Ferguson, pastor of Moosic Alliance Community Church, are scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge. Interment will follow in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the funeral home.
