Mr. Gerard P. McAndrew, age 72, Scranton, died Monday in Benton Township while hunting. His wife, the former Elizabeth A. Lewis, died in October 9, 1988.
Born in Scranton on December 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Hogan McAndrew. He was a graduate of the Scranton Schools and of the Honeywell School of Electronics, New Jersey. He Served in the Army during Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Parcht Badge Par 49, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Thompson Electronics, Dunmore He was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, West Scranton. He was a member of the church’s Society of the Faithful.
He enjoyed walking his dog, Daisy. He was an avid outdoorsman and passed away while doing what he loved.
He is survived by a son, Patrick Gerard McAndrew of Lake Ariel and a daughter, Mary Lou Oleski, Greenfield Twp.

He was preceded in death by four brothers Carl, Thomas, Joseph, and William McAndrew and sister Kathryn McAndrew and infant sister Mary McAndrew The funeral will be Thursday at 9:00 AM from the
Durkan-Cuff-Kearney Funeral Home 125 N.Main Ave. West Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in the Immacualte Heart of Mary Chapel, Oram St., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
