Louise (Stallo) Phelan of Sun City West, Arizona, and a Duryea native, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 1st, at home. She was 82 years young.

Born in Taylor on April 26, 1944, Louise was the daughter of the late Carlo and the Josephine (Niewiadomski) Stallo. A graduate of the former Duryea High School, Louise worked as an executive secretary while living in Trenton, N.J., before settling out west three decades ago. She was the owner and operator of “Welcome Wagon”, a resident welcoming business, for ten years prior to retirement.

To say Louise lived her life to the fullest is an understatement. Always on the go, she was a world traveler whose adventures had spanned the globe with her final journey being to Nova Scotia, Canada, only one month ago. She was an absolute trivia whiz who loved her Jeopardy, enjoyed fine art, and really loved the sports of golf and football.

Louise was kind, generous and caring, and her memory will long live on through her dear family and friends.

She is survived by her brother, Carlo “Junior” Stallo of Surprise, AZ.; and nieces and nephews, including Aaron Ermel of Moosic and Ryan Ermel of Old Forge, whom she considered her second son.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Atty. Frank Phelan on June 1, 2021; and her sister, Patricia Ermel.

Blessing services are scheduled for Friday at 10:30 AM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St, Old Forge, with burial to follow in the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
