Obituaries

Joseph R. Yaron, 90, formerly of Throop a longtime resident of the Greenwood section of Moosic, passed away Friday, June 26th, surrounded by his family.  His loving wife of 62 years is the former

Marlene Wirbicki.  The couple was wed on October 5, 1963.

Born December 8, 1935 in Scranton, son of the late Robert and Catherine Kuchala Yaron, Joseph was a graduate of the former Throop High School and Lackawanna College.

A US Army Veteran, Joseph served for 2 years at Fort Stewart, Georgia.  An accounting manager, Joseph worked for several local companies, and retired from US Food Services

after 20 years of service.  Joseph was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral, South Scranton, and a 50 years member of Union Lodge #291, Free and

Accepted Masons.  Joseph was also a member of the National AARP and the local NEPA Chapter.

Joseph’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Home Health Care Professionals and Hospice, especially Judy, Joan, Desiree and Tara.  You

were “angels” in human form and your kindness and compassion through this difficult journey will not be forgotten.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: his beloved daughter, Brenda Yaron Dixon, and husband, James M. Dixon, Bellingham, MA; the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Tyler

and Lindsay Dixon; and nieces and nephews.

A brother, John Yaron, and wife, Regina, also preceded him in death.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 8th, at 10 AM in St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral, 529 E. Locust Street, Scranton, with Fr. Sean Dodd, officiating.  Interment in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 6 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge.  A Masonic service will be

held at 5:30pm.
