Obituaries

Born on August 31, 1953, Catherine was the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (August) Granza. Educated in Scranton Schools, she worked for many years at the former Royal Bakery in Wyoming prior to her retirement.

Catherine’s memory will live on in many ways. She was an amazing cook who hosted her family holiday parties. She was a huge animal lover who adored her pup, “Izzy.” She was undoubtedly The Weather Channel’s #1 fan. She had a lifelong connection with horses from the time she was an equestrian in her youth, and she recently checked off a bucket list item by visiting the Assateague’s Wild Horses. Now at peace, she will be missed.

She is survived by her family including her daughters, Michelle Grzyboski and husband Jeremy of Moosic and Kerrie Steltz and husband Matthew of Cold Spring, N.Y.; her grandchildren, James and Abigail Williams and Winter and Jax Steltz; her former husband, James Horvath of Scranton; and nieces and nephews. Brothers, Robert and David Granza, also preceded her in death.

Her family would like to thank both Drs. Lisa Thomas and Thomas Churilla, and their staffs, for their care and compassion throughout Catherine’s illness.
