Obituaries

Born August 10, 1931 in Scranton, daughter of the late Elias and Annie King Parker, Louise was employed for over 20 years as an assistant for Drs, Myron and Gladys Ball. Louise also worked for over 50 years in various capacities for Sister Adrian Barrett and the Friends of the Poor.  Louise was a life member of Bethel AME Church, Scranton.

A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. Louise’s family was her life. She had a passion for baking and caring for children. Louise found great enjoyment in gardening and watching her flowers bloom. Louise also enjoyed the lost art of crocheting and enjoyed Soap Operas, or “her stories”.  Although gone, Louise will remain in the hearts of those she loved for generations to come.

Her family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Sean McCall, and the nurses and staff of Geisinger at home, the nurses and staff of Allied Hospice and palliative care.  You were “angels” in human form and your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.  Also, to everyone who paid visits, made calls, or sent cards, those little things brought so much joy to her days.

Surviving is her loving family: her daughters, Rhonda J. Parker Williams, SC, and M. Ellen Williams, PA; her sons, Myron B. Williams, NJ, and J. David Jackson, and wife, Jennifer, PA; grandchildren, Aliya Grindle, David L. Jackson, Kortni Williams, Alexandra Williams, Alana Williams, Bradlee Williams, Tiahna Jackson and Amber Pennyfeather-Williams; great grandchildren, Jaiden, Jasiah, and Keiran; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The last of 14 children, Louise was preceded in death by her siblings, Violet J. Parker, Adleen Parker, Eva Parker-Kearney, Annie Parker Clevaland, Mary M. Parker, Hazel I. Parker Davis, Frances D. Parker Jackson, William A. Parker, James Parker, Jesse E. Parker, Aaron F. Parker, Julius E. Parker, and Calvin G.C. Parker; and her beloved daughter, Brenda L. Parker-Williams, and beloved granddaughter, Mia Ila Jackson.

A Going Home Service will be held on Friday, June 5th at 11 AM in Bethel AME Church, 716 N. Washington Avenue, Scranton, with Rev. Mark Alexander, lead pastor, and Rev. Darian Banks, officiating.  Interment will be private in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service in the church.
