Catherine “Kay” Crockenberg, of Scranton, passed away May 2nd at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Paul. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter and only child of the late Anthony and Jean DeLuca.

A graduate of West Scranton High School, Kay began her career at West Side Bank and then ended her career as manager at Penn Star Bank. Always on the go, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life: shopping, Bingo, bowling, watching NCIS, and crocheting. A sharp mind, she took great pride in completing the daily cryptoquip, which she never left unsolved. To see her dance was a true blessing, as she moved with remarkable talent.

Kay was a loving mother and dedicated homemaker, known for her “famous” Italian and Polish cuisine, her talent for baking, and her skill at canning. A kind and caring soul, she will be deeply loved and missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Crockenberg; her brothers-in-laws, Frank “Whitey” and Donald; and sisters-in-laws, Connie and Ruth Crockenberg.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Sandra Gilmartin and husband Bill of Jenkins Twp., Douglas Crockenberg and wife Jacqueline of Scranton, and Sheila Ford and husband Paul of Archbald. She leaves behind seven grandchildren: Ian (Alyssa), Kyle (Lindsey), Kearson (Bryan), Kearea (Ryan), Kayleigh (Dave), Hana (Alex), and Cole (Brie); and nine great-grandchildren: Alyssandra, Aiden, Liam, Riah, Ryan, Norah, Lilah, Jagger, and Joss.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to The Wright Center for Community Health, especially Dr. Jignesh Sheth, Nicole, Munley, Kari Machelli, Alex Lillis, Sr Maureen, and Lauretta Graham for their support and care. They wish to thank the staff at Allied Home Hospice, specifically Kara, Dan, Jenn, and Nicole.

Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Thursday at 9:15 AM from the  Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor.
