Evelyn L. (Carrozza) Frantz, a longtime resident of S. Abington Twp., passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning at home. She was 99 years young. On November 15, 1989, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elias “Jay” Frantz. Born in Scranton on August 23, 1925, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Adolph and Mary (Musto) Carrozza. A master seamstress, she was a longtime employee of C+A Co. in Scranton where she served as a sewing machine operator. She remained a member of the I.L.G.W.U. long beyond her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, having crossed the country with her husband, while also being an avid casino patron. A fierce poker player, she always looked forward to her Saturday night poker games with her family. Family meant everything to her, and her loved ones will long have memories of holidays celebrated at “Aunt Ev’s” house. She will never be forgotten.. A devoted Roman Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church in Clarks Summit. She was survived by 5 adoring nieces and nephews; and 64 great nieces and great nephews.. The last of the Carrozza family, she was preceded in death by sisters, Eleanor Albrecht, Marion Carrozza, Rose Cherra and Mildred Albrecht. Her family wishes to acknowledge and thank the entire staff of Traditional Home Health Care in her final days as well as Stacie Albrecht and Debbie Stefanelli for their wonderful care as home caregivers.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 9:30 AM from the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of the Snows, 301 S State St, Clarks Summit. Burial will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton. Private funeral home visitation will be from 9:00 AM until services.
