John Kapacs, age 46, passed away on July 2nd at his home in Great Bend, following a longtime illness. He is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife, Cara (Cummings) Kapacs. The couple were married July 19, 2020. Born in Scranton on January 6, 1979, and son of the late John and Donna (Thomas) Kapacs, John was a 1997 graduate of Valley View High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines, before an honorable discharge with time served as a reservist. “Semper Fi” He last worked for DirecTV before illness, but despite any limitations he may have faced he certainly remained resilient and brave and never complained. To be remembered in so many ways, he loved detailing vehicles and antique cars, and he was a Harley-Davidson man for life. The master of Halloween decorations, he also loved professional wrestling and was a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. A phenomenal human being, he was a loving husband, father and brother who will forever be missed. He is also survived by his children, Destiny with Robbie of Blakely, James of CT., Taya with Angel of Allentown and Mckenzie of Great Bend; three siblings, Dawn and husband Joe of Archbald, Tracy and husband David of Scranton and Ann of Blakely; his godson, Chasyn of Wilkes Barre; and nieces and nephews. A celebration of John’s life is scheduled for Saturday, July 12th, at 1:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with services by Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora before military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until services.
