Glenn R. Gray, Sr., a longtime Old Forge resident, passed away on Wednesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. He was 78 years young.

Born in Moosic on August 16, 1946, and son of the late Wayne and Verna (Belles) Gray, Glenn was a graduate of Old Forge High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Era prior to an honorable discharge from service.

On November 23, 1968, he married his “darling”, Bonita (Strong) Gray. The inseparable couple were married for 56 years.

Upon his return to Old Forge, he worked at the GOEX Powder Mill for 33 years. He then began Glenn Gray Truck Co., whichhe owned and operated before truck driving for NFI, a job he still currently held.

Glenn’s work ethic was absolutely amazing. Always on the go, he was the past commander of the former American Legion of Old Forge, a member of the Lawrence Hose Co. in Old Forge, and the Moosic United Methodist Church. A handyman who was seemingly talented at everything, he took pride in his garden and loved to cook and eat – equally as much.

An avid outdoorsman, his favorite getaway was to his cabin in Susquehanna County where he loved fishing and hunting. To be remembered in so many ways, he was always positive trying to set a good example for his family. Above all else, he was a family man who adored his wife, loved his children and grandchildren, and will certainly be missed by his family and friends.

Along with Bonita, he is survived by three children, Glenn Gray Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Old Forge, Dana Gray of Old Forge and Scott Gray and wife, Lori, of Moosic; four grandchildren, Michael Cinamella, Jacob Gray, Julia Gray and Andrew Gray; three brothers, Brian Gray of Old Forge, Joseph Gray and wife, Sally, of Old Forge, Howard Gray of Florida.; three sisters-in-law, Judith Strong and Karen Hunold, both of Old Forge and Linda Strong of Moosic; and many nieces and nephews.

Siblings, Wayne Gray Jr., Sidney Gray, Edith Ann Coleman, Melva Brown, and Elwood Gray also preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made in Glenn’s name to the Old Forge Fire Department c/o 375 Milwaukee Ave., Old Forge, Pa., 18518.

Private blessing services were celebrated by Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora with military honors provided by the AMVETS Honor Guard and arrangements under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
