Matthew L. McGuire, 67, of Moosic Heights, died Tuesday at home after an illness.

Born February 23, 1958 in Scranton, son of the late Louis and Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Dranchak McGuire, Matthew was a graduate of West Scranton High School where he attended Vo-Tech for diesel mechanics.  Matthew worked for the Globe Store as a shipping and receiving manager. For over 30 years, Matt has been a dedicated over the road truck driver and has driven across the USA many times. Employed by Swift Transportation for 20 years, he’s was currently employed by NFI Industries for 6 years.
Matthew was a member of the Lackawanna and Wyoming Valley Railway Historical Society. Along with his love of trains, Matthew collected model cars.
Taken too soon, Matthew will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving sisters, Doreen McGuire, Avoca and Marilyn Waller, Scranton; his brother-in-law, Ken Pagnotti, Avoca; a niece, Marissa Dankulich, his companion of 8 1/2 years, Kathie Sweeney; and his former wife, Cynthia McGuire who died August 27, 2022.
A Celebration of Matthews Life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge.
