Mona “Lisa” (Olecki) Smith, of Taylor and formerly of Dupont, passed away at home on Friday. She was 65 years old.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ronald Hughes and also her brothers Robert, John, and Joseph Olecki, and sister Gloria Eisbacher.
Born in Scranton on December 10, 1959, Lisa was the daughter of the late Sebastian Turrano and Mary (McGarrity) Olecki. Raised in South Scranton, she was a graduate of the former Bishop Klonowski High School, Class of 1978, before working at Goldstar and serving at the Petro’s Iron Skillet. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy prior to her honorable discharge in 1998. She volunteered to help with caretaking, dog sitting, deep cleaning and organizing for everyone in need.
To be remembered in so many ways, Lisa loved music, especially Celine Dion and Adell, enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and was truly a kind, thoughtful, and generous soul. Above all else came her family of whom she was so proud of and did everything she could for them.
She is survived by her grandchildren Ariana and Ethan, loved ones including several nieces and nephews and dear extended family/friends. She always said “What are we doing? Making Memories!!!”
A celebration of her life will be May 16th at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 130 Union Street, Taylor, PA 18517 at 6:00 PM with arrangements under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
