Andrea (Dudeck) Cohowicz, of Taylor, passed away on Friday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, following an illness. She was 76 years old.

Born in Old Forge on October 8, 1948, and daughter of the late Andrew and Vivian (Moyer) Dudeck, Andrea was educated at Old Forge High School.

An extremely skilled seamstress, Andrea worked for the former Brooks Manufacturing and Fashions International before making a home at Battaglia Sporting Goods in Scranton.

For two decades, there’s a good chance that any uniform you may have seen worn by high school athletes to the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Railriders, was sewn by Andrea. From WNEP news story recognition to a personal thank you by Derek Jeter, Andrea’s talents were certainly appreciated.

She was always up for a casino trip as a frequent Atlantic City goer while always looking forward to her annual Las Vegas vacation.

Above all else came her family who meant the world to her. Selfless and caring, she was a natural caregiver who was always looking out for her dear loved ones. She will forever be loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved family including her daughter, Marybeth DeYoung and husband Brent of Ypsilanti, MI; her adored grandchildren whom loved their nana, Victor, Lorien, Danielle and Bethany; her siblings, Irene Ziemba of Old Forge, Vivian Dudeck of Taylor, Charlene Macavage of Scranton, Marie Greenfield of Taylor and Julie Metzgar and husband Ralph of Clark’s Summit; and many nieces and nephews.

Her son, Kevin Cohowicz; husband, John Cohowicz; and siblings, Andrew and Michael Dudeck, Sally Brown, Helen Gaul, Barbara Matthews, Marion Gaughan and Catherine Cox also preceded her in death.

A celebration of Andrea’s life will be Thursday at noon at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with family and friends welcome to pay their respects from 10:00 AM until blessing.

Please visit the funeral home’s website for directions or to leave a condolence.
