Edward (Ed) Campbell, 86 and a lifelong Scranton resident, passed away Tuesday at Oak Ridge Health Care Center after an illness.
Born on September 2, 1938, and son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Beatrice (Perlaitis) Campbell, Ed was a graduate of West Scranton High School before later studying pipefitting/electrical courses at Marywood University. Always possessing a strong work ethic, after working for Gress Poultry for 18 years, he worked for the former Specialty Records/WEA in Olyphant for over three decades prior to his retirement.
To be remembered in so many ways, Ed loved his country music, loved a good county fair, loved mechanics but no matter what, loved his family.
He is survived by his children, caregiver William Campbell and wife Wanda of Tunkhannock, Wayne Campbell and wife Genie of Moosic and Lois Simonson and husband O.J. of Peckville; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his son, Edward Campbell, Jr.; and brother, Joseph Campbell, Jr.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at 9:15 AM from the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street, Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor. Burial will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 3-5:00 PM at the funeral home. Visit the funeral home’s website for directions or to leave a condolence.
