Dawn (Williams) Mauro, of the Tripps Park section of Scranton, passed away on Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was 51 years young.
She is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Salvatore “Sal” Mauro.
Born on July 24, 1973, raised in Peckville, and daughter of the late Louis J. and Barbara Bryan Williams, Dawn was a graduate of Valley View High School’s Class of 1993. Prior to her illness, she had retired as store manager for Scranton’s chain of Family Dollar where she was both a familiar face and someone who went well beyond the call of duty to serve her customers.
To be remembered in countless ways, Dawn absolutely loved the outdoors. From boating to fishing to camping, her fondest memories were made with her family, especially Sal. She loved a good scratch-off lotto ticket, trip to Wildwood, N.J. or simply being with her family. Her legacy is one of being a wonderful person with a kind soul who was kind to everyone.
She is also survived by her step-son, Steven Casale of Scranton; her siblings, Joseph Williams and wife Kelly of NV, Maryann Williams of Daleville, Annie Williams of Scranton who Dawn had a special relationship with and Sherry Jenkins of Wilkes Barre; and many nieces and nephews.
Blessing services are scheduled for Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with burial to follow at the Cathedral Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 4-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
