Clare M. Murphy Reap, 82, a longtime Taylor resident, died Monday afternoon at Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, William Reap, on June 21, 2015.
Born in Scranton on March 3, 1942, daughter of the late Robert and Clare (Connolly) Murphy, Clare was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School. Along with raising her three children, Clare worked for the Sauquoit Silk Manufacturer in Scranton, before being employed by several local super markets prior to retirement. A faithful Roman Catholic, she was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish.
Clare was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, relative and friend who is now at peace and will be dearly missed. She also loved bowling and years ago was a fixture in weekly leagues at South Side Bowl.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Suzanne Sansky and husband, Stephen, of Olyphant; her adoring grandchildren, Stephen Jr., Katrina, Matthew, Jason, Phillip, William, III and Victoria; her brother, Frank Murphy and wife, Lee, of Scranton; and many nieces and nephews.
Clare was preceded in death by her children, William Reap Jr., and Diane Bridges, on April 23; and by her siblings, Robert “Murph” Murphy, Joseph Murphy, Mary Miller, Margaret “Peggy” Philipp and Patricia Kalewski.
Private services with burial at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
