Kenneth J. Schwenk, Sr., 78, of Taylor, died Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. His wife of 45 years was the former Michalene Perna, who died March 4, 2015.

Born February 12, 1946 in Scranton, son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Carroll Schwenk, Kenneth was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. A US Marine Veteran serving in the Vietnam War, Ken was a member of the Shopa-Davey Post 6082 Veterans of Foreign War, Peckville. Prior to his retirement, Ken was employed as a machine operator at the Lamp Factory in Dickson City. He was of the catholic faith.

A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle, Ken’s passion was fishing and he was proud of his fish tank. He enjoyed old war movies and especially music. His radio was on 24/7 playing nothing but the Oldies. Ken will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his “furever” faithful friend, Jack.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Ken’s live in caregiver and long time friend, Josh Brady. You were an angel in human form and your kindness and care of Ken throughout the last year will never be forgotten.

Surviving are daughters, Tracey Cadwalder, and husband, Paul, Old Forge and Michalene Hoffman, and companion, Willard Hughes, Old Forge; grandchildren, Chelsea and Ashley Cadwalder and Billy and Bobby Hoffman; great grandsons, Paulie and Richie;Siblings, Ray Schwenk and Sharmayne Tucker, both of Scranton; several nieces and nephews.

A son, Kenneth J. Schwenk, Jr and a brother, Paul Schwenk preceded Ken in death.

A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held on Monday at 7 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. Paul McDonnell, pastor of Divine Mercy Parish. Military Honors by the AM Vets Honor Guard to follow.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 PM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
