Eva Moretti, of Scranton, came to the end of her beautiful journey on Saturday, Sept. 28, as peacefully and gracefully as she lived her life.

She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Mancinelli) Moretti. She was also predeceased by her brother, Evo; her aunt, Palmena Viperio; her cousins, Mary Armillei, Betty Hanichak, Sam, Pauline, Claude Baldina Fanucci; and closest friend, Mary Clause.

Eva is survived by her second family, Dr. Joseph J. Zaydon Jr., John Paul Zaydon and her primary caregiver, Jemille A. Zaydon. She is also survived by her cousins, Ronald Armillei, Darlene Gubino and Debbie Taroli.

She will be sorely missed by her family and dear friends which includes her devoted loving caregiver, Ann Marie Bielinski, and lifelong friends, David Price, Olivia Tizzoni, Betty Procik, Carolyn Brombacher, Elaine Saar, Jackie Bunnell, Ann Marie Reniff and Lois Lowry.

Eva appreciated the kindness of Dr. Vincent Grattalino, his staff, Marci Scanlon, Dr. Kristina Frank, Dr. Jessie Walter and Rose Marie Gallia.

She was an honors graduate of Olyphant High School, Lackawanna Business College and a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Scranton in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

During her lifetime, she was a sought after court reporter covering some of the biggest trials in Lackawanna County. Before that, she was named an officer at the Scranton National Bank. While employed there, she worked in personnel and loan administration. Prior to that, she was associated with Goodman and Theise Inc., as office manager. In the work field, she had numerous lifetime accomplishments.

Eva traveled the world with her family and friends. She was known to have a golden heart and gave just about everything she owned to those she loved.

Some of her favorite things were blueberries, chocolate, Jeopardy, the movie “Random Harvest,” the game of golf, crossword puzzles and outlining the daily newspaper.

The love of Eva’s life was Our Lord. She was a devoted member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church where she volunteered three days a week for over 30 years.

Eva Moretti lived a long, beautiful life for 106 years and nine months. In memory of her, please do something kind for someone in need. Her loved ones wish to thank the doctors and nurses at Geisinger C.M.C. emergency room and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the loving care they gave to Eva.

A celebration of Eva’s wonderful life is scheduled for Thursday at noon in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, to be conducted by Rev. Eric Luczak and Rev. Michael Bealla. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Jessup.
