Joseph Logatto, a longtime resident of Roaring Brook Twp., passed away Saturday evening after a recent stay at St. Mary’s Villa after a truly full and happy life. He was 96 years young.

On November 3, 1965, Joe married his best friend and the love of his life, Phyllis (Graziano) Logatto. The couple celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Born on June 15, 1928, Joe was the beloved son of the late Oscar and Carmella (Lanzelotta) Logatto. Raised and educated in Carlstadt, N.J., Joe pursued a career in the supermarket business which would go on to span 50 years. He ultimately became the meat supervisor for the Inserra Shoprite chain of over 25 stores. After his well-deserved retirement, the Inserra family rewarded Joe with a brand new truck in appreciation for his hard work and loyalty throughout the decades.

Joe will long be remembered in so many ways. He loved his New York Yankees baseball, bowling in his younger years, and traveling. He and Phyllis had traveled extensively over the years throughout the United States and Europe, creating a lifetime of memories. Some of his fondest times came while on four family trips to Walt Disney World.

Joe was a kind and generous man who adored his family. The only thing he loved more than his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, was spending time with them. At peace, Joe will never be forgotten.

Along with Phyllis, he survived by his loving daughters, Alyce Holden and husband Joseph of Paramus, N.J., and Renee Svolto and husband Nicholas of Brick, N.J.; four grandchildren who adored their grandpa, Joseph Holden and wife Caitlin, Michael Holden, Thomas Holden and wife Natalia and Lauren Holden; two great grandchildren, Harper and Penelope Holden; and nieces, nephews and cousins. A sister, Irene Catanzaro, also preceded him in death.

Private blessing services by Rev. Paul McDonnell will be followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Scranton.

Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Homes, Inc., Scranton and Old Forge. Please visit the funeral home’s website to leave a condolence.
