George Aulisio, age 81, a longtime Taylor resident, passed away Wednesday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, after an illness. He is survived by the love of his life who was always by his side, Carol (Jordan) Aulisio. Married on November 2, 1963, the couple celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Born in Old Forge on September 2, 1943 and son of the late George A. “Chicken” and Estelle (Kalina) Aulisio, George went to Old Forge High School before proudly serving in the U.S. Army. Following three years of service and an honorable discharge he proudly remained in the U.S. Army National Guard for over two decades.
George was the owner and operator of Aulisio Coal and Oil Company and for over twenty years prior to his retirement at age 79, he worked as a propane transporter for Berwick Gas Co., Inc.
Mount Airy Casino was always his favorite place to gamble – George’s favorite pastime. He loved Pittsburgh Steelers football, was always armed with a Pall Mall cigarette and possessed a lifelong work ethic.
Above all else came his family, as he was the epitome of a family guy with his granddaughters undoubtedly his darlings.
Now at peace, George will forever be loved by all who knew him.
Along with Carol, he is survived by his three children, Barbara Olear and husband Robert of Buffalo, N.Y., Wendy Fagotti and husband David of Henderson, NV., and George Aulisio and fiance Mary Romanelli of Taylor; three granddaughters, Mia and Kallie Olear and Alyssa Fagotti; his brother, Joseph Aulisio and wife Diane of Old Forge; and many nieces and nephews.
A grandson, Robbie Olear; and siblings, Patricia Quick and Anthony Aulisio, also preceded him in death.
A celebration of George’s life is set for Tuesday between 4-7:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
