John C. Price, a lifetime Moosic resident, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Hospital. He was 75 years old. On July 17, 1971, John married the love of his life and best friend, Catherine “Kay” (Flynn) Price. The couple recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.

Born in Taylor on Dec. 30, 1948, John was the son of the late Irwin Franklin and Helen (Campbell) Price. A graduate of the former Taylor-Moosic High School, class of 1966, he then began a longtime career in transportation. He worked for Interstate Dress Carriers, prior to its closure, before delivering for My Mother’s Delicacies in Scranton, prior to his retirement. His love for driving prevailed as he continued to handle private transport.

An elder of the Moosic Presbyterian Church congregation, John served as a true pillar of the church having selflessly volunteered in countless ways. He and Kay were always active in supporting the entire community, rarely ever missing an event, festival and picnic.

John will forever be remembered in so many ways. Always on the go, he especially loved traveling to Walt Disney World, Knoebels and the beach. He also loved music, especially The Beatles and doo wop, he appreciated a good grocery store and loved flying in the Fairchild PT-19 with his son-in-law. His favorite pastimes were watching the local baseball games, NHRA and NASCAR racing, riding roller coasters, group fitness at JCC and spending time with his grandchildren and granddogs. A local historian, there wasn’t much John didn’t know about the region’s history.

John was kind, humorous, accepting and judgement-free. He loved his family and being with them meant everything to him. A man of faith and family values, he will long be loved by all who knew him.

Along with Kay, he is survived by his adoring daughters, Marsha Price and husband, Christopher Lawler, of Frederick, Maryland; and Megan Price and husband, Christopher Navarro, of Lawrenceville, N.J.; and two grandchildren, January and Logan White.

Funeral services to be celebrated by Pastor Janet Hunt are scheduled for Wednesday at noon in the Moosic Presbyterian Church, 625 Main St. in Moosic. Burial will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery in West Scranton. Family and friends may pay their respects at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until services.

Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge. Please visit the funeral home’s website for directions or to leave a condolence. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the John C. Price Flight Operations Fund-Hagerstown Aviation Museum. https://www.hagerstownaviationmuseum.org/donate/
