Ann M. (Tuffy) Chester, R.N. age 81, of Taylor, passed away Wednesday evening at Allied Hospice in Scranton following an illness. On January 14, 2015, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth J. Chester.
Born in Scranton on October 4, 1942, Ann was the daughter of the late James and Ann (Flynn) Tuffy. A graduate of the former Bishop Hannan High School, Ann continued her studies at The Scranton State Hospital’s School of Nursing where she earned her title as a Registered Nurse. She worked at the State Hospital for many years before continuing her career at the former Mercy Hospital in Scranton where she pridefully cared for her patients until her well-deserved 2007 retirement. She was smart, driven and possessed an amazing worth ethic enabling her to be a true role model to those around her, especially her family.
Along with being a great Mom, Ann was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and adored her pup “Jo Jo.” She was the queen of shopping everywhere and anywhere while QVC certainly just lost one of its most loyal customers. Now at peace, Ann will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her children, Robb Chester and wife Cleide of MD., Corey Chester and wife Jenny of UT., Jason Chester and companion Vince Storelli of Ill., and Cheryl Palmer of Taylor; seven grandchildren, Corey Palmer, Gregory, Ryan and Tavian Chester, Destinee Martell, Crystal Strobehn and Jade Webster; a brother, James Tuffy and wife Deborah; and nieces and nephews.
Twin brothers, Jerome and Thomas Tuffy, also preceded her in death.
A celebration of Ann’s life is schedule for Monday at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, where family and friends are welcome to pay respects between 4-6:00 PM with a 6:00 PM blessing service. Private burial, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Twp.
