Julia A. Andrukitis, age 73 and a lifelong resident of West Scranton, passed away Tuesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Born on December 29, 1950, and daughter of the late Edward G. and Ann (Kollonige) Andrukitis, Julia was a graduate of West Scranton High School, Class of 1968. She worked at Vermont Manufacturing, AAA Pant Co. Champion  Ford and Bank of America before Maines Food Source, where she was employed prior to her retirement. A faithful and selfless Roman Catholic she was a longtime member of St. David’s Parish before its closure where she took pride in decorating the church. More recently, she was an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish where she served as a eucharistic minister and also served by delivering homebound parishioners with communion.
Julia enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers. She was also a talented quilter, seamstress and crafter who always seemed to have a million projects in the works. She often remarked that she ‘hoped that there are craft stores in heaven otherwise she was coming back to haunt someone!’
Above all she loved her pups, especially her dog “Princess”, and her family, especially her siblings and nieces and nephews. She will never be forgotten by her loved ones.
She is survived by her family, including her siblings Nancy Andrukitis and longtime companion Karl Nielsen of Scranton, George Andrukitis of Scranton and Carol Brelish of Fl. whom Julia considered a sister; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her brother, Edward “Eddie” Andrukitis, also preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the church on Saturday between 9 – 10:00 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made in Julia’s name to St. Patrick’s Church Food Pantry c/o 1401 Jackson St., Scranton, Pa. 18504.
Arrangements are under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home., Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
