William “Bill” Kalinich, Jr., age 76 of Moosic, passed away suddenly on Saturday afternoon at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Bird) Kalinich. The couple celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on April 14th.
Born in Taylor on February 26, 1948, and son of the late William, Sr., and Jean (Godlewski) Kalinich, Bill was a graduate of the former Taylor-Moosic High School’s Class of 1966. For 32 years prior to his retirement, he worked for the Riverside School District. With the combination of sports and gambling, he certainly found his happy retirement. He loved his New York Yankees, New York Giants, a good slot machine and his family who will forever miss him.
He was also a longtime member of Divine Mercy Parish in Scranton.
Along with Linda, he is also survived by his children, Bill Kalinich, III and Rachel (Kalinich) Skoranski, both of Taylor; step children, John Cox of Scranton, Richard Cox of Moosic and Laura Royce of Old Forge; 13 grandchildren and one on the way; 5 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. His only sibling, Donna Owens, preceded him in death on February 26th.
A blessing service by Rev. Paul McDonnell, Pastor of Divine Mercy Parish, is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects from 4:00 PM until services.
