Corey Gabriel Collins, of Evansville, Indiana, a Scranton native, died on Tuesday afternoon. He was 47 years old.

Born on March 24, 1977, and the beloved son of Marianne Collins, Corey was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he would earn the rank of Senior Master Sergeant prior to his honorable discharge after twenty years of service. Prior to his retirement, he had been honored by the military with the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Award and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.

Upon retirement he held a management position as a site manager at TRIGO in Evansville, Indiana.

Anyone who knew Corey will remember his fun-loving and adventurous attitude towards life. He enjoyed drinks with friends, beach vacations, dressing up for halloween, amusement parks and roller coasters, and had no boundaries when it came to a good joke. Everyone who loved him will tell you that they have a favorite memory filled with laughter.

He is survived by his mother and daughters, McKenzie and Rylee Collins of Bordentown, NJ, as well as his uncles, Paul Sweeney and Joseph Collins of Philadelphia, PA, and many cousins.

A funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox. Military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 AM until Mass.
