Born in Duryea on June 25, 1942, and daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Simmons) Scheatzle, Sandy was a graduate of the former Duryea High School, Class of 1960, before raising her adored family of four children. She is survived by her loving family including her four children, Kelly Thornton of Old Forge, Tracy Alexander and husband Mark of Old Forge, Jody Verdetto and husband David of Thompson and William Thornton, IV and wife Christina “Chrissy” of Old Forge; seven grandchildren who loved their “grammie”, Chelsea, Mark, Olivia, Natalie, Emily, Patrick and Aubrey; three great grandchildren, Tessa, Noah and Nicholas; her brother, Jack Scheatzle of Duryea; and many nieces and nephews.
Brothers, Alyn, Glenn, Dennis and Kenneth Scheatzle, also preceded Sandy in death.
