Jaylean Ortiz, a lifelong Scranton resident, passed away unexpectedly on Monday. A life cut much too short, she was 18 years young.
Born on February 7, 2006, she was the beloved daughter of Jorge Ortiz and Christine Haryluck and companion Christopher Capone, all of Scranton. Soon to be honored as a graduate of West Scranton High School’s Class of 2024, Jaylean’s potential was tremendous. Creative and artistic, she was also an aspiring writer whose writings, primarily based on her own experiences, are left behind as part of her legacy.
Jaylean was fun-loving, silly and loved making others laugh, and she loved to get “dolled-up” and dance her heart out. A daddy’s girl, some of her best times came alongside her Dad, including watching all things MARVEL.
Forever loved and “18 Forever”, she will be forever missed.
She is also survived by her brother, David, of Scranton; her grandmother, Zoila Martinez of NY.; and countless dear cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
A celebration of Jaylean’s life will be Sunday between 2-5:00 PM at the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
