Yefim Oksenkrug, age 78, passed away Tuesday afternoon. He is survived by his beloved wife, Valentina Zinger. The couple were married on December 9, 1999.
A native of Minsk, Belarus, Yefim was a mechanical engineer who moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1995.
Yefim will be remembered in so many ways. He was the absolute life of the party. He had an amazing sense of humor and an innate ability to connect with others. He could resolve any problem and naturally put those around him at ease. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, but adored nothing more than his family.
Yefim was a spirited person who was full of life. He was a phenomenal father and grandfather. To be dearly missed, he will forever be loved by family and friends.
Along with Valentina, he is survived by his adoring family including his daughter Nadya Gifeisman, five grandchildren, Rachel, Abby, Reuven, Rebecca and Sarah Gifeisman; and nieces and nephews; Maya Nalibotsky, Liliya Ilanit Volfson, and Ilya Sloushch.
Yefim was preceded in death by his parents, Reuven Oksenkrug and Sophia “Sara” Nesvizhskaya; two siblings Maria Slouschsh and Abhram Slouschsh; and a nephew, Igor Nalibotsky.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday between 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. Prayers by Rabbi Daniel Swartz will be at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Colon Cancer Foundation C/O 10 New King St #209, White Plains, NY 10604.
