Kevin E. Burge, a longtime Old Forge resident, passed away Thursday morning unexpectedly at home. He was 65 years young.
Born on November 4, 1958 and raised in Dunmore, Kevin was the son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Decker) Burge. A 1977 graduate of Dunmore High School, Kevin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After also being in the Army Reserves and PA National Guard, he was honorably discharged with six years of service.
He worked as an electronics expert for Tobyhanna Army Depot, traveling the globe for work, before his retirement after 34 years. Possessing a tireless work ethic, Kevin was beloved by his co-workers and had worked for Pride Gourmet Bakers in Taylor even as a retiree.
A mechanic in his Army days, he continued his loves for fixing cars throughout his life. He loved sports, especially basketball, and he was an avid bowler in several local leagues.
A member of the United Baptist Church in Taylor, he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. To be remembered in so many ways, Kevin was a comedian with an unforgettable laugh, he loved his sweets and he was loyal, kind and selfless. He adored his family, especially his three grandchildren, and will certainly never be forgotten.
He is survived by his daughters, Jenna Burge and fiancé Raymond Clarkson of Gouldsboro and Sarah Burge of Forty Fort; three grandchildren, Jacob and Justin Clarkson and Aspen Synoraski; his longtime companion, Karin Marie Strein of Old Forge; brothers, Randy Burge and fiancé Colleen of Dunmore and Glen Burge and wife Michelle of Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and Gary Burge, who recently preceded him in death on February 26th.
Funeral services with military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard are scheduled for May 3rd at 11:00 AM at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp. with burial to follow.
